The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
This role will be a fixed-term, full-time position for 12 months, during a period of parental leave. The Coordinator is responsible for the end-to-end planning and delivery of conferences and events, including client liaison, event scheduling, use of enterprise event management systems, coordination of catering and AV services, logistics, and financial administration and reconciliation. The role operates in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with competing priorities, requiring strong organisational skills, adaptability, and the ability to manage multiple events concurrently. Challenges include peak event periods, complex stakeholder requirements, and the need to maintain service standards while learning AUT systems and processes.
The role reports to the Team Leader – Conference & Events and works closely with the wider Commercial Services and Estates team, and Faculty and Professional Services staff across the university. Key projects will include the delivery of academic conferences, student engagement events, cultural celebrations, and external events.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
4 years' experience in a similar role/ field
Strong experience working in a customer-service industry, coordinating hospitality aspects.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple events simultaneously in a fast-paced environment, taking full ownership and responsibility for outcomes.
Ability to work collaboratively within a large team environment across Faculties, Catering Operations and Audio Visual departments.
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality/Event Management, Business Administration or similar
A current clean New Zealand driver’s licence.
