- Play a hands-on role supporting outdoor, field-based and experiential learning across our Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences
- Use your outdoor and technical skills across vehicles, field equipment, trips and expeditions – no two days the same
- Fixed-term, part-time (22.5 hours per week) role based at AUT Millennium (AUTM) campus, with travel to other Faculty campuses and field sites as required

The Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences – Te Ara Hauora A Pūtaiao – is AUT's largest faculty, bringing together six schools: Acute and Primary Health, Allied Health, Community and Public Health, Nursing, Science, and Sport, Exercise and Health. The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
We are seeking a Senior Technician – Outdoor Learning to join our Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences, based at AUT Millennium (AUTM) campus. Reporting to the Senior Manager – Technical Services, this fixed-term, part-time role provides advanced technical, operational and health and safety leadership in support of outdoor, field-based and experiential teaching, learning and research activities. You will plan and support field trips, expeditions and off-campus activities (including multi-day and remote trips), manage vehicles, trailers and field equipment, and deliver field health and safety inductions and risk assessments to a high professional standard. While your primary focus is outdoor learning, you will provide field-based and practical technical support across the Faculty as required, working alongside academic and professional staff, students, and external providers such as Estates and Procurement. This is a varied, hands-on role for someone who enjoys working independently in high-autonomy environments, and who wants to contribute to AUT's commitment to Te Aronui by supporting inclusive, high-quality teaching and research experiences for our students.

To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Significant experience providing technical support in a similar role, ideally within a tertiary or comparable environment
- Demonstrated experience planning and delivering field-based or off-campus activities, including remote or multi-day trips, along with experience towing and manoeuvring trailers and driving 4WDs, utes and vans in off-road or field conditions
- A relevant tertiary qualification at degree level
- A current full New Zealand driver licence and a current Outdoor First Aid Certificate · A commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion and supportive of AUT’s Te Aronui journey.
