    Senior AI Developer (at the rank of IT Officer) for AI Applications Team in the Information Technology Services(Ref.: 536346)

    Information Technology Services (ITS) provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. Information about ITS can be obtained at https://www.its.hku.hk/.

    We are seeking a high-caliber IT talent to join us to provide top-notch IT services for our AI Applications Team.

    The Role

    The appointee will be responsible for

    • Developing and supporting web and mobile technologies and services;
    • Supporting the adoption of AI technologies, including generative AI and AI agents, to enhance digital services, user experience and operational efficiency;
    • Defining system requirements, carrying out design, implementation and testing, and managing changes during deployment;
    • Assisting in the design, development and integration of AI-enabled solutions and features for web and mobile applications; and
    • Performing other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications and Qualities

    Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Information Technology or a related discipline; a good command of written and spoken English; and good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills. They should also have good knowledge of and relevant experience in some of the following areas:

    • AI-related technologies and applications, such as generative AI, Large Language Model (LLM) integration, prompt engineering, AI APIs/services, AI agents, or intelligent automation
    • Web technologies (HTML5, CSS, JavaScript, Node.js, React, Vue)
    • Mobile development technologies (Flutter, React Native)
    • Programming languages (Java, C#, Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, SQL)
    • Data integration / API technologies (Oracle, MS SQL, REST API, API gateway)
    • Cloud technologies (Azure)

    Applicants with experience in developing or integrating AI-powered applications, services or features in enterprise, web or mobile environments will have an advantage. Solid AI project experience will be a plus.

    What We Offer

    The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
