The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi
We're looking for an energetic, passionate, and people-focused Fitness Instructor to join our North Campus team.
This is much more than a gym floor role. You'll work closely with members from all walks of life, helping them build confidence, develop healthy habits, and achieve their fitness goals. You'll deliver engaging group exercise classes, design personalised exercise programmes, provide health and fitness advice, and create an exceptional member experience every day.
Working opening shifts Monday to Friday, you'll be a key part of our fitness team, contributing to:
- Fitness assessments and exercise programme design
- Coaching safe and effective exercise technique
- Delivering motivating group fitness classes
- Providing outstanding customer service and member support
- Maintaining a safe, welcoming, and well-presented fitness environment
- Supporting member engagement initiatives, events, and centre operations
This role reports to the Fitness Operations Leader and contributes directly to AUT's commitment to student wellbeing, healthy communities and Te Aronui by creating positive experiences that encourage lifelong participation in physical activity.

You're someone who genuinely enjoys helping people succeed and thrives in a team environment. You're approachable, proactive and passionate about creating positive experiences for everyone who walks through our doors.
To be successful in this role, you'll have:
- Experience working in a fitness, gym, or recreation environment.
- A relevant qualification in fitness, exercise, sport, or recreation.
- REPs registration (or eligibility to obtain registration).
- A current First Aid Certificate.
- Experience in designing exercise programmes and coaching clients.
- Confidence in delivering engaging group exercise classes.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
- The ability to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team.
