The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi  

An exciting opportunity for a Student Advisor has become available in our Rainbow Student Support Service. This is a full-time (37.5 hours per week), fixed-term position, for a period of 12 months.

Our Rainbow Student Service team foster an environment where ākonga Rainbow have the support, belonging, and agency to shape their own university experience. We achieve this by providing wellbeing support tailored to the diverse strengths, identities, and needs of our Rainbow communities. Our team also works closely with other support services to provide holistic and wrap-around support for our ākonga Rainbow.

We are looking for an experienced wellbeing or mental health support professional, who may come from an education, clinical, or community setting, and has experience using a case management approach. This is a varied role, combining 1:1 support, group facilitation, and community building initiatives that foster belonging. You will be confident supporting students with complex needs, comfortable navigating the intersections of identity and wellbeing, and passionate about working alongside Rainbow communities. Most importantly, you will bring compassion, sound professional judgement, and a commitment to creating spaces where every student feels safe, respected, and able to succeed.

About you | Ko wai koe  

To be successful in this role, you will have: 

• an undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. social work, youth development, health sciences) 
• experience and confidence working with Rainbow communities
• experience in tertiary education, community support or wellbeing support
• a passion for supporting student success
• an ability to deliver high-quality, professional service with a culture of customer care
• an understanding of advisory support delivered via a case management model
• extensive experience with technology and relationship management software

• Salary Ranges | Ngā Utu: $76,000 - $102,000 per annum (dependent on experience and qualifications)
