Job Description:

Senior Technical Officer in the School of Biomedical Sciences (Ref.: 536834) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree, preferably a postgraduate degree. They should have at least 10 years’ solid work experience in biological sciences or a related laboratory science discipline. They should also be highly motivated, and able to work independently and as a team in a multi-disciplinary laboratory environment. Experience with transgenic mice, molecular biology techniques, cell/ tissue culture techniques, histology and imaging techniques, microfluidic system and advanced techniques, flow cytometry, and pioneering spatial proteomics platform (e.g. Microscoop) would be an asset.

The appointee will play a crucial role in supporting laboratory activities, maintaining equipment and facilities, and assistance in teaching practical classes. His/her responsibilities include, but are not limited to: conduct laboratory experiments and provide technical support to researchers and staff, maintain and calibrate laboratory and communal equipment, troubleshoot technical issues, and ensure their proper functioning, prepare and analyze samples, assisting in the development and implementation of laboratory protocols and standard operating procedures, provide technical guidance, ensure compliance with safety regulations, maintain a clean and organized laboratory environment. He or she will also need to liaise with commercial parties for purchases.
