IT Technician (holding the functional title of Assistant e-Learning Officer) in the Information Technology Services (ITS) (Ref.: 536785)
ITS provides central IT services to support the University’s teaching, learning, research and administrative activities. ITS is transforming its organization to support its new strategic development and strategic adoption of new technologies. We are seeking high caliber candidates to support different IT services and new development. Information about ITS can be obtained at https://www.its.hku.hk/.
The Role
The appointee will provide user support and assistance to staff and students in utilizing the University’s e-Learning platforms (i.e. Moodle and Panopto) and tools. He/She will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the design and facilitation of workshops on the Learning Management System (LMS);
- Delivering effective help-desk services, especially in relation to e-Learning solutions, such as the LMS, video streaming, lecture capture systems, etc.;
- Producing management reports on the LMS; and
- Preparing self-learning materials, including user guides and video tutorials, on the use of the LMS and other e-Learning tools.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A Bachelor's degree, preferably in Information Technology or a related discipline;
- At least 2 years of relevant work experience, preferably in the education sector;
- A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese;
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with faculty members, colleagues and students;
- The ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment;
- Good customer service, analytical and problem-solving skills; and
- Attention to detail.
Preference will be given to those with ITIL, CTS, PRINCE2 certification and relevant project management experience.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
