Kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role
Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is seeking a passionate permanent, full-time Tautai- Adviser to be part of our team that delivers culturally responsive pastoral care that supports the academic achievement of our Pasifika students.
In this role, you will work with and alongside our Pasifika students to ensure that their experience at Te Herenga Waka - Victoria University of Wellington is a success. You will help them navigate challenges that may be affecting their wellbeing.
A key element of this role is working closely with professional and academic staff to support Pasifika students on their journey of success. As part of Vaka Tangata Moana, you will also help deliver high-impact events that lay the foundations for and celebrate Pasifika.
This is position based in Vaka Tangata Moana, the Office of the Assistant Vice Chancellor Pasifika.
Ō pūmanawa - About you
We are looking for a person who is passionate about supporting the success of our Pasifika students; has excellent communication and relationship-building skills; and has a strong understanding of Pacific cultures, values, and practices.
Your desire to see our Pasifika students succeed - coupled with your strong organisational skills and ability to work across multiple faculties - would make you an ideal candidate.
Key requirements of the role include:
A tertiary degree.
Knowledge of New Zealand’s tertiary settings, particularly how these relate to Pasifika.
Ability to build strong working relationships with students as well as academic and professional staff.
Ability to analyse data, write reports, and make evidence-based decisions.
