    Applications are invited for appointment as Research Assistant I / Research Assistant II in the Department of Paediatrics and Adolescent Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (to commence as soon as possible, for one year, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance).

    Applicants should have a bachelor's or master's degree in bioinformatics, biological or medical sciences, computational biology, biochemistry, genomics, or a related discipline. A genuine interest in human genetics and rare disease research is essential. Prior experience in bioinformatics or computational analysis, including programming in R and/or Python, familiarity with Linux/Bash scripting will be an advantage. Candidates with a biological sciences background and hands-on laboratory experience, including molecular biology techniques such as DNA/RNA extraction, qPCR, or cell culture, are equally encouraged to apply.

    Applicants should be organized, independent, self-motivated, detail-oriented, eager to learn new methodologies, responsible, able to work both independently and in a team, fluent in written and spoken English, and possess strong analytical and communication skills. Candidates with less prior experience will be considered at the Research Assistant II level.

    The appointee will conduct genomic and translational research under the supervision of Dr. Brian Chung, contributing to projects at the interface of clinical genomics, multi-omics data analysis, and rare disease discovery. The role offers scope for both computational and experimental work depending on the candidate's strengths.

    Successful candidates will build a strong foundation in genomics research skills while contributing to high-impact studies, with prospects to co-author publications and present findings at international conferences. Candidates who demonstrate strong performance and commitment are encouraged to consider continuation in the team as postgraduate (PhD) students under Dr. Brian Chung's supervision.
