    Job Description:

    • Shape engaging events and social media content, using your initiative to spot what students need and make it happen
    • Be a welcoming, organised presence for AUT students at South Campus Library (Manukau)— friendly and approachable, and reliable in following through on the details that keep events and projects running smoothly
    • Use your strong communication and people skills across frontline service — at the desk and on chat
    • Be part of a collaborative and energetic team working across all three AUT campuses

Auckland University of Technology (AUT) is New Zealand's newest university and one of its most distinctive. Centred on students and grounded in knowledge that works, AUT is 5-star rated by QS, with more than 27,000 students and 4,000 staff based primarily across three Auckland campuses. It's a place of real opportunity, where the values of Pono, Tika and Aroha shape how talented, progressive people work together – and you'll feel that in the culture, in the collaboration and in the difference the work makes for students, communities and the world.

Our community is stronger because of the role Te Tiriti plays in how we operate, and because Māori and Pacific knowledge, leadership and contribution are central to who we are. We embrace diversity in all its forms and are proud to welcome people of all ethnicities, genders, sexual orientations, religious and political beliefs, socio-economic situations and accessibility needs.

Te Mātāpuna Library and Learning Services is AUT's whare pukapuka (library) and knowledge source. Our name recognises the special connection AUT has to the underground waterways and rivers that flow through Tāmaki Makaurau. Our mātāpuna (campus libraries) and services are foundational for Knowledge That Works. Te Mātāpuna teams are knowledge connectors and amplifiers, navigators, partners and kaitiaki. We centre our work around principles of openness, inclusivity and equity. As active Tiriti partners, we embed AUT’s Tiriti framework throughout our services. Our teams partner with the AUT community to lift academic skills and provide access to knowledge. We create learning opportunities and resources to lift achievement, research visibility and impact and to support open research and Māori and indigenous data sovereignty.

The Opportunity | Te Whiwhinga mahi

This is a permanent, full-time role based at AUT's South Campus.

Day to day, you'll create social media content, plan and run events and activations, and provide frontline service at the library helpdesk and via online chat — the first friendly points of engagement for many students. You'll be a visible presence on campus, working to lift student awareness of the library's spaces, workshops, and learning support.

Through this work, you'll contribute to AUT's Te Aronui journey, helping create a welcoming, inclusive environment where all students can thrive.
