Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga – About the role
We are seeking a Financial Operations Officer to join our Finance & Analytics Directorate. This role supports the delivery of efficient, accurate and customer-focused financial operations across the University, contributing to the integrity of financial information and the smooth running of key transactional finance processes.
Working across accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash management and procure-to-pay activities, you will play an important role in ensuring transactions are processed accurately, reconciliations are completed on time, and stakeholders receive high-quality support.
Key responsibilities include:
- Processing accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions accurately and within agreed timeframes
- Supporting procure-to-pay activities, including invoice processing and vendor management
- Completing bank, clearing and control account reconciliations and resolving variances
- Maintaining supplier and customer records in line with controls, policies and procedures
- Responding to financial queries from internal and external stakeholders
- Assisting with month-end activities, including journals, accruals and reconciliations
- Contributing to process and system improvements across Financial Operations
- Providing support and coverage across the wider Financial Operations team as required
Salary will be in the range of $60,046 to $72,636 per year, based on skills, knowledge and experience brought to the position. This is a full-time role (37.5 hours a week), based on our Hillcrest Campus.

You will bring experience in financial operations, with exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable and/or cash management functions. You will enjoy working in a structured environment, have a strong eye for detail, and take pride in delivering accurate, timely and customer-focused service.
You will also demonstrate:
- Experience working with an ERP system such as Oracle or a similar platform
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy
- Sound organisational and administrative skills
- The ability to prioritise competing tasks and meet service deadlines
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills
- A collaborative approach and willingness to support team objectives
- Experience using Microsoft 365 applications
A qualification in accounting, finance, business administration or a related discipline is advantageous; however, equivalent practical experience will be equally valued.
