An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the AUT Sport & Fitness Centre team as Sport & Fitness Centre Manager, based at our North Campus.
In this role, you will contribute to the strategic direction and operational management of the AUT Sport & Fitness Centres, while working collaboratively across all three campuses as part of a unified team. You will lead a high-performing team within a dynamic, customer-focused environment that supports students, staff, and the wider community.
This is a diverse and fast-paced role that blends leadership, operations, and customer engagement. You will be responsible for driving service excellence, supporting staff development, overseeing systems and processes, and ensuring the smooth delivery of fitness and recreation services.
You will work within a vibrant university environment, fostering a positive, inclusive culture aligned with AUT’s values while supporting both personal wellbeing and community engagement through sport and recreation.

- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate, develop, and lead high-performing teams
- A background in sport, fitness, recreation, or a related industry, with strong operational understanding
- Excellent customer service skills and a commitment to delivering outstanding client experiences
- Strong administrative, organisational, and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise workloads and meet deadlines and KPIs
- Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills, with confidence engaging a wide range of stakeholders
- The ability to exercise sound judgement and adapt to changing situations in a dynamic environment
- A collaborative approach, with a willingness to work across multiple campuses and teams
- A passion for people, health, and wellbeing, and a proactive, solutions-focused mindset
