    Job Description:

    Senior Curatorial Assistant/Curatorial Assistant (at the rank of Senior Facilities Assistant/Facilities Assistant) in the University Museum and Art Gallery (UMAG) (Ref: 536519) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance).

    The appointee will be responsible for overseeing UMAG’s external communications, public engagement, and educational programmes. We encourage applications from individuals with a keen eye for detail, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently with initiative.

    Detailed Responsibilities

    1. External Communications and Public Engagement
    • Oversee the operation and content strategy of the museum’s websites;
    • Ensure all content aligns with cultural development objectives;
    • Plan, develop, and manage engaging content across various social media platforms;
    • Analyse the performance of different social media channels and prepare regular reports to inform strategic planning;
    • Coordinate, develop, and prepare various communication materials for exhibitions, including press releases, promotional content, and multimedia assets; and
    • Foster and maintain collaborative relationships with external partners.

    2. Educational Programmes Management

    • Lead the development and implementation of educational programmes related to exhibitions;
    • Contribute to the curatorial development of exhibitions;
    • Support the conceptualisation and execution of educational initiatives; and
    • Organise and manage guided tour programmes.

    Qualifications and Qualities

    • A Bachelor’s or Master's degree in related area, preferably in the field of Digital Content Management, Museum Studies or Cultural Management, with at least 3 years of full-time relevant experience (for those applying for Senior Curatorial Assistant position) gained at museums, art organisations, or academic institutions with strong passion for the cultural sector;
    • Familiarity with art historical terminology and methodologies;
    • Proficiency in computer software, including Zoom, Teams, Word, Excel, Canva, and PowerPoint;
    • Good organisational and communication skills with excellent command of both written English and Chinese as well experience in translating between the two languages; and
    • Fluency in English and Cantonese, and proficiency in Putonghua.
