    Research Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture in the Division of Landscape Architecture (Ref.536544)

    Applications are invited for the appointment as Research Assistant Professor in Landscape Architecture in the Division of Landscape Architecture, Department of Architecture (Ref. 536544), to commence in 2026 or as soon as possible. We seek early-career scholars whose design research engages with emerging topics and methods within and adjacent to the field of landscape architecture, with particular focus in areas of applied ecology, such as conservation biology and restoration ecology, or in areas of advanced fabrication, landscape engineering, and critical approaches to data and representation. Appointments will be made on a two-year basis with the possibility of renewal or advancement toward tenure-track positions in the Division as and when available.

    Qualifications:

    Applicants should hold a doctoral degree (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in Landscape Architecture or closely allied field. They shoud demonstrate an emerging record of innovative design research through their scholarship and/or creative practice as evidenced by peer review and other forms of recognition. Preference will be given to those who have experience in teaching and practicing design in a multidisciplinary context.

    Responsibilities:

    Research Professoriate staff are expected to pursue an independent research and design agenda in line with their area of specialization. Apppointees will be expected to teach, with duties that may include core and elective seminars and co-teaching duties in design studio within our Bachelor and Masters programs in landscape architecture. Broadly, the successful candidate will help build and sustain our innovation in design research and other scholarly initiatives within the Division.

    The Division of Landscape Architecture offers an internationally recognized, rigorous, and dynamic research and teaching environment within the Department of Architecture at The University of Hong Kong. Staff members take an active part in shaping the Division’s culture through teaching and administrative service in our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. While we strive to continue to strengthen our regional leadership in the field of Landscape Architecture, we are actively developing international collaborations and building long-term relationships in greater Southeast Asia and beyond.     Compensation and Benefits


    A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 15% of basic salary.
