Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We're looking for an enthusiastic and digitally literate individual to join our Collections Team at Te Mātāpuna ki Waihorotiu (City Campus Library) as a part-time Digitisation Specialist (0.6 FTE, 22.5 hours per week). If you appreciate the role of digital collections in expanding access to unique and valuable resources, this role offers an exciting opportunity to make an impact. Help us progress our commitment to accessible, high-quality digital collections that support AUT's goals and increase access to resources for research and scholarship in Aotearoa and beyond.

You'll be joining a team that collaborates across the library, the university, and with wider networks to develop and manage access to collections that empower learning, teaching, and research. Our team thrives on a blend of individual expertise and collective purpose, creating a culture where collaboration and support drive success.

You will be responsible for digital accessibility and digital preservation of unique and valuable resources in all formats. You will be involved in all aspects of the delivery of digitisation projects including selection, curation, imaging, data and image optimisation, metadata enhancement and technical documentation.

He kōrero mōu | About you 

To thrive in this role, you must have:

  • a recognised undergraduate degree
  • relevant experience with digitisation, including familiarity with digital imaging processes and software, such as Lightroom, Photoshop, or other image editing tools
  • an understanding of copyright and intellectual property issues as they relate to digital preservation and access
  • the ability to communicate effectively with colleagues in Te Mātāpuna and across the university, and to build connections with others working in similar roles across institutions
  • a commitment to diversity, equity, and honouring te Tiriti

This is a part-time (22.5 hours per week) permanent position. You must be eligible to work in NZ to be considered.

Salary Range: $59,000 - $78,000 (dependent on experience and qualifications) - pro rata
