Multiple positions for the role of Research Assistant I/II to commence as soon as possible for 6 months are available, with a possibility for renewal.
The Women’s Studies Research Centre (WSRC) (https://www.wsrcweb.hku.hk/), established in 1994, brings researchers, policy makers, leaders from different sectors and from within the broader community together around issues of gender, sexuality and diversity across disciplines, cultures, and contexts. WSRC is committed to promoting research and dialogue in areas crucial to the development of women’s, gender, sexuality, and diversity studies. We organise seminars, conferences, and symposia and are a hub for research activity, capacity-building, collaboration, and multilevel stakeholder engagement in efforts to achieve equity and expand opportunities for all. WSRC emphasises the importance of translating academic research into actionable steps to impact societal change.
- We are recruiting for the posts of 1 full-time and 1 part-time hourly paid Research Assistant I/II. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in any humanities discipline, preferably in gender, race, disability and social justice or legal studies and have at least 1 year of relevant work experience, including supporting training and development in the field of equality, diversity and inclusion, social justice and civil society. Previous academic research experience and work interfacing with the community will be a strong advantage. They should have an excellent command of both written and spoken English and strong visual media skills including ability to actively manage social media pages and organize and maintain an online repository of research literature, data and produce research papers, activity and impact reports. They should be skilled in establishing and maintaining partnerships with key contacts, stakeholders, and community members to support the project objectives. Candidates should also have the ability to think critically, take initiative and work independently when needed and have strong project and time management and networking skills. They should be able to conduct research in related fields using both electronic and traditional sources, and to engage in intellectual and analytical work of high quality under strict deadlines. At the same time, this work also requires strong collaboration skills and working as a member of the team. Proficiency in written and spoken Chinese will be an advantage but is not a requirement.
- We are recruiting for 1 post of part-time Research Assistant I/II with the following requirements:
Strong understanding of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript; expertise in UI/UX design principles and web design best practices; experience with modern frameworks, responsive design, website optimization and cross-device functionality to design and develop visually appealing and user-friendly websites using industry-standard design tools such as Wix, WordPress, or similar platforms.
In general, the full-time position entails a standard 40-hour work week which is remunerated on a monthly basis. The part-time RA I/II will be paid hourly with a maximum of around 20 hours per week. For each position, there may at times be varying periods of intensity of work depending on the phase and activity pace pertaining to the project. This may require work on some evenings, Saturdays or extra hours during the week on occasion. These will however, be adjusted within the overall hours required for the role on a weekly basis.
The primary role of Research Assistant(s) will be to work closely with the WSRC Convenor and the DEIJB Lab (https://www.linkedin.com/company/deijb-lab) Project Manager to carry out duties required to support their work, objectives and activities. The appointee will support ongoing project activities, including multisectoral engagement and outreach involving diverse groups of stakeholders to raise awareness, cultivate partnerships, develop content and training material, evaluation tools and implement strategic change to achieve change under the paradigm of the DEIJB framework in a range of contexts such as education, employment or sector-specific service provision. This work will include both administrative and research-related activities including planning, organizing, outreach and synthesising, summarising, constructing platforms for dissemination of project recommendations, resources and outcomes and impact to wider audiences.
The salary offered for this position depends on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
