Applications are invited for appointment as Research Officer in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 530750), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary term or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance.
Applicants should possess a Ph.D. degree in epidemiology, biostatistics, public health, or a related discipline, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. They should have solid research experience in communicable and/or non-communicable diseases, and a track record of high-quality impactful research demonstrated by publications and/or external grants. They must be competent in statistical software packages, including R, for data analysis. They should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including Cantonese and Putonghua). They should be organized, responsible, detail-minded, self-motivated, and able to work independently as well as in a multidisciplinary team.
The appointee will lead a project on the health economic evaluation of cancer prevention strategies. He/She will also be responsible for fieldwork using large language models (LLMs) in real-world healthcare settings. He/She will supervise junior research staff and students; develop his/her own research programme; and write scientific publications, grant proposals and reports. He/she would also be assigned teaching duties for undergraduate and postgraduate students, and perform other duties as assigned. Working off-campus may be required. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of the basic salary.
