IT Officer in the School of Computing and Data Science (Ref.: 530797)
The MSc Programme Office provides administrative support to the taught master programmes in the School of Computing and Data Science. We are looking for IT Officer to join our office.
The Role
The appointee will be responsible for supporting IT infrastructure; performing system and network administration tasks; designing, developing and maintaining websites and apps; managing computing and audiovisual facilities in the office and classrooms; providing efficient and professional IT, multimedia, and e-learning support for staff and students;
He/She will also be required to perform other non-IT related duties as assigned, such as event logistics and facilities management. Shift duties in evenings, weekends and public holidays are required to meet the teaching schedule of the programmes. Occasional travel to Mainland China is also required.
Qualifications and Qualities
- A Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related discipline;
- At least 2 years' relevant work experience;
- Good interpersonal skills and a strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to work independently under pressure;
- A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua);
- A positive mindset along with good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills;
- Be self-motivated, eager to learn, well-organised, attentive to details, and multi-task oriented;
- Experience in the following areas:
- system administration, installation and maintenance of Linux OS and Microsoft Windows server products, including Hyper-V, Exchange, SQL;
- website and app development and database programming in LAMP stack;
- basic network and firewall administration;
- basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment and multimedia applications.
What We Offer
The appointment will be made on fixed term full-time contract for 2 year and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
