Job Description:

IT Officer in the School of Computing and Data Science (Ref.: 530700) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

The School is looking for experienced and proactive individual to develop in-house IT systems to support student administration, finance and HR functions. The School welcomes candidates who can work either part-time or full-time on this project.

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline., with at least 8 years work experience in IT project management, IT system development, support and maintenance, server setup and network administration. Proven hands-on experience in Microsoft 365, Linux Server, SQL Server, VPN and firewall, PCs, as well as high proficiency in various operating systems and in using CSS, JavaScript, PHP are advantageous. Those with working knowledge or previous experience of Cloud (AWS, Alibaba, Azura) are highly preferred. Applicants should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and in a team environment with a result-oriented proactive attitude. Preference will be given to applicants who have experience in process re-engineering or knowledge of student administration, finance or HR processes in tertiary institutions and who are capable of engaging with internal users and external service providers.

The appointee will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing customized solutions to meet the School’s specific needs. He/She will gather requirements from users and relevant stakeholders, design and develop in-house systems and applications, conduct system testing and debugging, develop documentation and user guides, and provide support on the implemented systems. He/She may customize and integrate existing software solutions, and ensure seamless integration of systems and applications.
