Career Development and Student Wellness Advisor (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the Faculty of Arts (Ref.: 530698) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

The Faculty of Arts invites applications for a highly devoted and self-motivated Career Development and Student Wellness Advisor to engage, empower and support Arts students in the development of informed career plans and pursuit of career aspirations, and to inspire them to take advantage of a resource-rich learning environment, professional networks and global partnerships.

Applicants should have a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Arts, Social Sciences or related disciplines, with at least 5 years of relevant work experience. Prior experience in tertiary education and a proven track record in career placement and advising, and personal enrichment programmes would be an absolute advantage. They should be a proactive and efficient leader, able to think strategically with a student-centric growth mindset and excel at problem solving. They should possess effective organisational and interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written, be collegial and able to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders across disciplines locally, in mainland China and the global arena. Some experience of mental health ‘first aid’ training or even counseling would be a definite advantage, as the Advisor will help to guide students with mental health issues toward sources of support.

The appointee will also support the development and organization of an exciting range of experiential learning opportunities at the Faculty level, including internships, mentorship, personal enrichment and leadership initiatives, etc. He/She will lead and coordinate in career advising and placement in close partnerships with academic programmes, professional networks and prospective employers with a view to catering for the needs of students and the strategic plans of the Faculty, and to undertake any other duties as assigned. Occasional working outside office hours including weekends will be required. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to attend a written test and an interview.
