Te Whiwhinga mahi | The opportunity

We are seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead communication delivery to our diverse student community. In this role you will provide leadership in communication and engagement practices and the development and implementation of communications and campaigns that support the success and retention of AUT students. The position works across the University to support the effective adoption and use of AUT communication channels and their enhancements - as a contributor to AUT's strategic objectives. You'll oversee a team of five who work to build a sense of pride and engagement with AUT - and that our student community feel informed, cared for, and connected to the University and each other.  

Ko wai koe | About you

We are looking for a highly motivated forward-thinking leader with proven experience in engaging diverse communities. The successful candidate will possess excellent communication, planning and relationship building skills, with the ability to align with AUT's strategic goals and the needs of students. The experience and skills we are seeking from you are:

  • Minimum 7+ years' experience in strategic communications and/or public relations roles
  • Demonstrated experience in the production of data informed campaigns and communications
  • Experience in managing a high performing team across multiple workstreams including graphic design, videography, and copywriting.
  • Relationship management experience working across broad range of stakeholders
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts simply and clearly
  • Sound experience in issues management, with a good risk radar and problem-solving capabilities especially under pressure.
