Āu Mahi | What You Will Do
The School of Biological Sciences are seeking a motivated and proactive Laboratory Coordinator to join the team. This part time role offers lots of variety as you interact with students and staff. You will provide exceptional technical assistance by:
- Ensuring teaching laboratories are well prepared, and fieldtrips are prepared
- Supporting the lab Instructor and Demonstrators
- Pre-testing experiments including trouble shooting any issues.
You will also provide professional support for the School of Biological Sciences research areas as required.
Mōu | Who You Are
To be a successful in the Laboratory Coordinator, you will have:
- A science background in biology, molecular biology, microbiology
- A minimum qualification of a National Diploma in Science (NZQA Level 6)
- Extensive experience working in a laboratory setting
- Comprehensive knowledge of the Health and Safety at Work Act, particularly displaying competence in Hazardous Substances and the Hazardous Substances and New Organism Act.
- Display excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to work within a team environment and interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders.
- An alignment with our organisation's values and culture, promoting a positive and inclusive work environment.
Who You Will Work With
The role of the School of Biological Sciences is to provide undergraduate and postgraduate education, and to carry out cutting-edge research in the Biological and Biochemical Sciences, and to facilitate the use by society of the knowledge gained.
You will work with a passionate and dedicated team of Support Staff, who along with our exceptional team of Academics staff are committed to offering innovative educational experiences to students at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels.
