Job Description:

Post-doctoral Fellow in Semiconductor materials and devices in the Department of Physics, The University of Hong Kong (Ref.: 530253)

We now invite applications for the captioned post(s) available in Prof. Francis Chi-Chung Ling’s group. More than one vacancy is available.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • work on a project related to silicon carbide materials and devices
  • design/refine the research instrumentation and methodology
  • coordinate data collection and analysis
  • support the organization of dissemination events
  • assist in the preparation of reports
  • perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • a Ph.D. degree in Physics, Materials Sciences or Engineering. Experience in wide gap semiconductors, semiconductor devices, dielectric materials and semiconductor defects are preferred. The posts are to be supported by the Research Talent Hub for ITF Projects, and thus the candidates are expected to graduate from a Hong Kong local university, or a well recognized non-local institutions (among the top 100 institutions in the latest publication of world university ranking), or jointly awarded by a local university together with a non-local university.
  • at least 1 year’s relevant working experience
  • an excellent command of written and spoken English
  • good interpersonal, communication, organizational and problem-solving skills
  • the ability to work on a tight schedule to meet project deadlines
  • the ability to work independently and in a team
  • self-motivated and responsible

What We Offer

The appointment will commence on a temporary basis for 16 months starting from 1 Jan 2025, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.
