Teaching Assistant

Teaching Assistant in the School of Humanities (Ref.: 527412) (to commence from January 2025 for 5 months)

Applicants should possess a good first degree and preferably with teaching experience in one of the related disciplines, e.g., Anthropology, Archaeology, (Landscape) Architecture, Business Administration, Economics, (Urban) History, (Human) Geography, Public Administration and Policy, Sociology, Urban Planning, and Urban Studies. The appointee will assist the Course Coordinator in course preparation and administration, conduct tutorials and assessments, lead a field trip, and perform any other duties as assigned.

The appointee is expected to support teaching for a Common Core course CCGL 9070 ‘The Birth of the City and the Shaping of Societies’ offered by Dr Yi Samuel Chen. The course is related to Urban History and focuses on the making and remaking of cities in a selection of major urban civilisations in history and in the modern and contemporary world; and how city-making shapes not only the conditions of human settlement and individual and collective human lives, but also the environment and planetary wellbeing. Preference will be given to those whose academic and professional expertise and experience are relevant to these areas, with an interest and enthusiasm to conduct dynamic and engaging tutorial discussions with students.
