Job Description:

Senior Research Assistant/Research Assistant I in the Department of Medicine, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 526554)

We now invite applications for the captioned post.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • perform data analysis on computational biology, bioinformatics, genomics, proteomics, cytomics and next-generation sequencing to identify genetic and cytome biomarker
  • carry out integrative mechanistic studies in a collaborative environment
  • exploit some of the cutting-edge experimental and computational methods
  • prepare scientific publications, grant proposals and reports
  • provide general administrative and operational support
  • perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • a Master’s degree in Bioinformatics, Biostatistics, Biochemistry, or related disciplines, with at least 1 year’s post-qualification experience
  • research experience in the field of computational biology, machine learning through advanced programming (Matlab, Python or R)
  • high level of expertise in analysis of large and complex datasets
  • excellent written and oral communication skills
  • ability to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team
  • applicants with less experience or lower qualifications may be considered for appointment as Research Assistant I

What We Offer

The appointment will commence as soon as possible on a 2-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave, medical benefits and free access to on-campus gyms and libraries.
