Job Description:

Research Assistant I/II in the Department of Ophthalmology, School of Clinical Medicine (Ref.: 526635) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis or one-year temporary basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or above in Biomedical Sciences or a related discipline. Those with experience in animal experiments, basic molecular biology, and cell culture techniques (e.g. mouse handling, tissue dissection/processing/sectioning, immunohistochemical staining, RNA/DNA extraction/processing, qPCR, protein extraction, western blots, confocal/fluorescent microscopy, and cell culture works) would have an advantage. They should have a strong sense of responsibility; good interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills; as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently and collaboratively as a team.

The appointee will be involved in research projects related to the development of novel pharmacological treatments for ocular diseases and investigations in neuroregeneration and neuroprotection. He/She is expected to be committed to the project schedules and assist with laboratory routines.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed-term basis will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of the basic salary.
