Position Overview

The School of Food Technology and Natural Sciences, Massey University, is seeking applications for the position of Senior Technician – Mechanical Workshop.

The purpose of this role is to provide technical and workshop support across the College of Sciences, predominantly on the Manawatū campus, for the College’s teaching, research, project and commercial functions. The role also ensures our compliance with relevant Health and Safety and other legislative or policy requirements.

As the successful applicant, you will carry out specialised techniques, train others and be part of a small but experienced team that collaborates with the wider University.

What you can bring:
  • Work experience in a Senior role in a general engineering workshop with the maintenance and repair of scientific equipment - essential.
  • Your commitment to Health & Safety must be demonstrated through your employment history – essential.
  • A NZ Certificate in Mechanical Engineering (Trade) (Level 4) in either Fitting and Machining or General Engineering or equivalent - essential.
  • A current First Aid Certificate, a fork hoist operator’s licence, a heavy goods vehicle licence and a current Electrical Appliance Serviceperson registration - desirable.
  • Technical and programming experience with/in 3D printers, CAD/CAM drawing and operating packages, CNC and 3D Printing - essential.
  • Current driver’s licence – with full class 1 – essential.
  • Class 2 licence with F,R,T,W endorsements – desirable.
