Job Description:

Teaching Assistant in the Faculty of Social Sciences (Ref.: 526580) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totaling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to funding availability and satisfactory performance)

Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree in Arts, Social Sciences, Science or a related discipline, with at least 1 year of experience in research and teaching. They should have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills, as well as an excellent command of written and spoken English. Preference will be given to those with experience of research and teaching in computational social science or social data analytics. The ideal candidate will be able to assist in multiple courses such as Machine learning, programming, big data analytics, statistics, social network analysis and natural language processing.

The appointee will work on the Master of Social Sciences in the field of Social Data Analytics Programme offered by the Faculty of Social Sciences. He/She will assist course teachers in course preparation, administration and other academic activities, grade and provide feedback on assignments and tests, invigilate examinations, provide consultative support to students outside class, and perform other duties as assigned by the Programme Director.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of the basic salary.
