Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 526533)

We are looking for a Manager (at the rank of Administrative Assistant II) to join the Communications and Public Relations Team in the General Office of the School of Public Health (“the School”) to oversee the communications and public relations functions of the School.

The School is home to six academic divisions, over 400 staff and postgraduate students, the BASc in Global Health and Development Programme, the Master of Public Health programme, and a number of research centres. We are committed to protecting and enhancing health for all people, through research, education, knowledge transfer and public health advocacy.

The Role

We are looking for a high-calibre appointee to lead a small team and support a spectrum of communications and public relationships initiatives of the School, with major responsibilities including:

  1. Formulate and implement branding strategies and integrated communications plans that will raise the profile and enhance the branding of the School;
  2. Oversee a spectrum of communication platforms such as website, social media, e-bulletin, press release as well as internal communication;
  3. Promote scientific research, educational programmes and public health service of the School via traditional and digital media;
  4. Plan and execute School events such as the Public Health Forum and community outreach/ Knowledge Exchange campaigns;
  5. Identify engagement and content generating opportunities with internal and external stakeholders;
  6. Monitor analytics of online presence and media coverage of the School to optimize our visibility; and
  7. Support strategic initiatives such as fellowship programme and fund raising.

Qualifications and Qualities

  1. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, with major relevant to Communications, Journalism or Marketing preferred;
  2. Not less than 7 years’ relevant work experience, with staff supervisory experience;
  3. Excellent writing, proofreading and editing skills in English and Chinese; strong IT proficiency including good knowledge in website content management system, graphic design and video production software;
  4. Proven track record in a spectrum of communications and external affairs functions, such as management of social media, SEO, and e-bulletin; event planning and execution; copy writing for press release and speeches, and media relations;
  5. Strong communication and interpersonal skills; mature with sound judgement; meticulous and responsible; and a good team player;
  6. Able to work independently with minimum supervision and deliver under tight timeline; conversant in a multi-cultural work environment with an international outlook; and
  7. Experience with crisis management and fund raising is an advantage.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed-term full-time contract for 2 years, to commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
