Job Description:

IT Officer/IT Technician in MSc Programme Office of the Department of Computer Science (Ref:526538 )

The MSc Programme Office provides administrative support to the taught master programmes (MSc(CompSc), MSc(ECom&IComp) and MSc(FTDA) in the Department of Computer Science. We are looking for IT Officer/IT Technician to join our office.

The Role

The appointee will be responsible for managing computing and audiovisual facilities in the office and classrooms; providing efficient and professional IT, multimedia, and e-learning support for staff and students; performing system and network administration tasks; as well as designing, developing and maintaining websites and apps.

He/She will also be required to perform other non-IT related duties as assigned. Shift duties in evenings, weekends and public holidays are required to meet the teaching schedule of the programmes. Occasional travel to Mainland China is also required.

Qualifications and Qualities

  • A recognised Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a related discipline;
  • Good interpersonal skills and a strong sense of responsibility, with the ability to work independently under pressure;
  • A good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (fluency in Cantonese and Putonghua);
  • A positive mindset along with good communication, analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • A fast-learner, self-motivated and well-organised, with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision;
  • Proficiency in computer operations; experience in system administration, installation and maintenance on various operating system platforms; website and app development and database programming; and basic knowledge of audiovisual equipment and multimedia applications;
  • Knowledge of, and experience in, network administration, various server products such as Microsoft Windows Server, Exchange, SQL, Hyper-V would be an advantage.

Those with lower qualifications and/or less experience may be considered for appointment as IT Technician. Fresh graduates will also be considered.

What We Offer

The appointment will be made on fixed term full-time contract for 2 year and commence as soon as possible with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, together with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme at 10% of basic salary. Other benefits include annual leave and medical benefits.
