Job Description:

Manager, Development and Alumni (at the rank of Executive Officer) in the Faculty of Business and Economics (Ref. 526457) (To commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis, with contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 10% of basic salary, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

HKU Business School Development and Alumni Team is looking for a results-driven and experienced professional with a strong understanding of the Mainland China market and a passion for business development in the education sector to join our dynamic team.

Applicant should possess:

  • A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ of experience in business development, fundraising or partnership management, with a focus on the Mainland China market.
  • Demonstrated success in generating and delivering effective pitches and securing funding or partnerships in Mainland China.
  • Strong understanding and experience in using Chinese social media platforms, such as WeChat and Xiaohongshu, for business development purposes.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and relationship-building abilities in both Chinese and English.
  • Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
  • An excellent command of English and Chinese (including Putonghua)

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Developing and implementing business development strategies specifically tailored to the Mainland China market, identifying and cultivating partnerships, sponsorships, and funding opportunities for the school;
  • Establishing, maintaining and strengthening relationships with key contacts in the corporate, government and non-profit sectors in Mainland China, as well as with alumni and prospective donors;
  • Createing compelling pitch presentations and proposals in Chinese to secure financial support and collaboration for various initiatives and projects;
  • Leveraging on Chinese social media platforms, such as WeChat and Xiaohongshu, to engage with potential partners and donors, and to promote the school's initiatives;
  • Working closely with internal stakeholders to align Mainland China fundraising and partnership objectives with the school's overall mission and goals; and
  • Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of business development efforts in Mainland China, and proactively provide insights for continuous improvement.
