Job Description:

Applications are invited for appointment as Senior Manager (Development) (at the rank of Administrative Assistant I) in the Development and Alumni Affairs Office (DAAO) (Ref.: 526074) (to commence as soon as possible, on a two-year fixed-term basis with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance)

We are looking for applicants who share the University’s vision and are enthusiastic about supporting the fundraising initiatives of the University. Further information about the Office can be obtained at www.hku.hk/daao.

Applicants should possess the following qualifications:

  • A good university degree with at least 8 years' relevant experience, of which at least 3 years should be at supervisory or management level;
  • Demonstration of integrity with a strong sense of professional ethics, and the ability to work effectively in a large, complex, dynamic and sophisticated organization;
  • Energetic, approachable style and self-motivated;
  • Ability to multi-task, work proactively, and pivot to address changing priorities;
  • A good understanding of people dynamics, with outstanding interpersonal and collaborative skills, management experience and the capacity to lead a team are essential; and
  • An excellent command of English and/or Chinese.

Reporting to the Director of Development, the appointee will be highly focused on expanding the Office’s outreach and philanthropic proceeds through the University's development and fundraising activities.

Responsibilities:

  • Identify, cultivate, solicit and steward major gifts prospects;
  • Develop creative engagement strategies in networking and fundraising;
  • Manage donor relations by developing and implementing stewardship plans and strategies;
  • Prepare administrative and management reports including contact and strategy reports for each prospect; and
  • Collaborate with faculties, academics and staff in fundraising opportunities.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.
