Job Description:

Senior Research Assistant in the Division of Epidemiology and Biostatistics of the School of Public Health (Ref.: 526182) (to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or two-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance).

Applicants should possess a doctoral degree by research (Ph.D., D.Sc., Dr.P.H. or equivalent) in computational biology, bioinformatics, bioengineering, statistics, public health, or other related disciplines within computational, life, or medical sciences. They should have excellent written and spoken English proficiency, strong interpersonal and communication skills, and a strong sense of responsibility and keen interest in the research area. Being detail-oriented and able to collaborate within a team are essential qualities. Having research experience in seroepidemiology, genomics, and statistical analysis would be advantageous. Quantitative skills and competency in statistical or computer modeling software (e.g., R, Python, C++) are highly preferred.

The appointee will assist in studies investigating the pathogen-host interactions of influenza and SARS-CoV-2. He/she will assist to analyze statistical data and prepare publications and reports. Information about the School can be obtained at https://sph.hku.hk/.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
