Job Description:

Laboratory Assistant (holding the functional title of Project Assistant) in the School of Public Health (Ref.: 525978), to commence as soon as possible on a one-year temporary basis or a two-year fixed term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess Form 5 qualification or above. Diploma or above in healthcare related disciplines would be desirable but not a must. They should have a good command of written and spoken English and Chinese (including fluent Cantonese and Mandarin is a plus). They should be organized, responsible, and able to work independently as well as in a team. Experience in community-based research studies is highly preferred. Venipuncture skill is a plus.

The appointee will assist in a range of ongoing community field studies on infectious disease epidemiology and/or vaccine trials. He/She will assist in participant recruitment and follow-up activities, handle blood and respiratory samples, answer study hotline enquires, provide administrative support and perform other duties as assigned. A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. The appointment on fixed terms will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme totalling up to 10% of basic salary.
