Job Description:

Applications are invited for appointment as AssistantAdministration Manager in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 502235), to commence in December 2020 for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

The selected candidate will work in a company incorporated by The University of Hong Kong that was established to administer and support the University’s innovation endeavors.

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably a postgraduate degree, in Accounting, Business Administration, Corporate Communication, Finance, Human Resources Management, Languages or a related discipline. They should have at least 3-4 years’ relevant work experience in the higher education sector or public/quasi-public organization(s). Those with a good understanding of laboratory operation and some supervisory experience in office administration will be highly desirable. Applicants should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to plan and implement large-scale projects.

The appointee will assist the Administration Manager in managing the daily operations of a new research centre; and support a wide range of functions including project planning and management, human resources, financial budgeting, research administration, space planning and utilization, and office management to maintain the centre’s smooth operation. He/She will also serve as a primary contact of the research centre to handle liaisons with internal and external stakeholders; assist in the implementation of strategic plans and policies in collaborative and team-based approaches; and perform ad-hoc projects as assigned. Working off-campus may be required occasionally. Working outside normal office hours may also be required occasionally.
