Job Description:

Applications are invited for appointment as Administration Manager in the Department of Microbiology (Ref.: 502055), to commence in December 2020 for two years, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and funding availability.

The selected candidate will work in a company incorporated by The University of Hong Kong that was established to administer and support the University’s innovation endeavors.

Applicants should possess a good Bachelor’s degree, preferably a postgraduate degree, in Accounting, Business Administration, Corporate Communication, Finance, Human Resources Management, Languages or a related discipline. They should have at least 5 years’ relevant work experience in the higher education sector or public/quasi-public organization(s), and at least 3 years of which should be with a supervisory role. Applicants should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, strong communication, organizational, project management and problem-solving skills, and the ability to plan and implement large-scale projects.

The appointee will play a leading role in managing the daily operations of a new research centre. He/She will lead a team of executives and clerical staff to support a wide range of functions including project planning and management, human resources, financial budgeting, research administration, space planning and utilization, and office management to maintain the centre’s smooth operation. He/She will liaise with internal and external stakeholders; assist in the implementation of strategic plans and policies in collaborative and team-based approaches; and perform ad-hoc projects as assigned. Working off-campus may be required. Working outside normal office hours may also be required occasionally.
